Ring of Fire

Hi Folks,
Sai's getting there-has had a bit of pain and soreness as everything cranks back up.He said to say on blog he has a "ring of fire",if you know what I mean.Louise, one of the really nice nurses said he won't be allowed home until there's a "motion in the ocean"-OK!

I called admissions yesterday as he was still on a public ward(room) and he should be in private-what's the point of paying money into private health care and you don't get it.So he was moved last night to the Lynn Ward and has a nicer room and bigger too.He was on that ward last August-it really doesn't seem that long ago. When the docs do their rounds Sai doesn't spare any blushes and has every detail of what's going on given to them.

Our bashed car goes over to Kilcock tomorrow-at last,I feel like a leper driving about in it.I had to push to be given another 7 seater in it's place. They usually give smallish cars out.I said if there's a Nissan Micra waiting on me there I'll cry!No good to me with two strapping teenagers,Ethan,my mum and my sister coming over at the weekend too. What's the point paying insurance for your 7 seater and getting a Micra !!

I've a feeling Sai might be home Friday,or maybe Saturday. He does look well.He still has a wee drain tube in where the bag was so no fluid builds up underneath but that should be coming out tomorrow.

Going to watch Corrie now--nite,Elaine. x

Yippee! Allowed food today!

Evening Folks,
Well,Sai delighted with himself as allowed to eat again today.Although he said then he'd had fish,ok that's fine-and cauliflour! not the best thing to eat. They really need to keep a better eye on what he's ordered for eating.I had a word with the Ward Sister Louise and asked could he see a nutritionist or at least a sheet with information on what allowed to eat.She said she's ask the dietician to see him.I shouldn't have had to ask that.I also mentioned that his room hadn't been cleaned properly on Sat (if at all) as there was a plastic thing lying on the floor under his bed on Friday and it was still there on Sat pm.Not good enough.

I drove his wee Golf over to visit him today (wel,me not the car!) as it was due it's NCT (MOT).We hadn't had it serviced or anything as there was too much going on-i should've thought.Well,it failed on loose wheel bearings, brake liners/hose need replacing and they have to re-test the brakes when it goes back in.Minor things but things none the less.Well it is 17 years old,so not bad!

Sai sent me a text earlier this evening; "after another marathon run on the loo that ended with a crescendo of a fart (he's nothing if not descriptive!) on the force 10 mark.I am now in deepest appreciation of my wee freind,Buddy..the bag on my side,as my bottom is like a roughened bit of wood that has been touched by the coarsest sandpaper known to mankind. The worst thing..."
think the text got cut off there, not sure. He's sleeping so didn't want to disturb him.He just needs to heal and get over this hurdle.

I've a list of stuff to do tomorrow, nite nite, Elaine. x

Sunday Sunday

Evening,
Sai looking well but starving! He's not complaining (much) and ordered dinner for me as he knew I'd be there then.It was lasagne and not bad either.Chris,an Intel-ee came by for a visit which was nice.Sai was in out of the little boys room as things are moving around which is good news. We'll see when he's allowed to eat, soon hopefully.

Sai's wee Golf is due it's NCT (same as MOT) tomorrow-i just realised a few minutes ago,so I need to sort that out.Cross fingers!

Tired,going to bed.Nite.xx

Sai Looking Well

Hey,
well it's now 12 30am.Took me 40 mins to get on here-again,gremlins (Sai,I need you home!)

Ethan's class Communion was today. The children looked great and it was a a lovely service.Ethan and a couple of other non-Catholic got a Blessing instead.I misseed Sai not being with us though,it didn't feel right.Afterwards there was refreshments provided in a tent behind the church.I wasn't in a mingling frame of mind so my mum and myself headed back to the car;the boys went and got a couple of things and then we went to the Marriot for a bit of lunch.Ethan has to go to church again tomorow at 11am as they are doing it al again-no long lie in this weekend!

I went over to visit hubby around 4pm.He's definately looking a lot better, has better colour in his face. He's off the drip too! Well he was told earlier today to drink free fluids ie as much water as he wants, but then was told he could eat by another doc, then Prof Keane came in and was a bit concerned he was being allowed free fluids! He told Sai to be cautious and asked if he was nauseous at all, which he isn't.Sai didn't tell me or Prof Keane that he'd had tea and toast and jelly and ice cream earlier! HELLO! I'm pretty sure Prof would be having kittens if he knew that!

John (I'm sure Sai has mentioned him-a friend he met in chemo who has just gone through cancer too) visited him today. He was saying that Sai doesn't look llike a 'cancer patient' now-Sai said he doesn't feel like one either now.

I had a wee bit of a strop when i had to leave the room while the nurses changed Sai's dressing,I mean what do they think i haven't seen?My God,i've been there by his side for the last 18 yrs!! It was a male nurse and a female student nurse (who was very nice and got me tuna sandwiches for tea from the tea trolley) I know Sai is the important one here but come on.Sai texted me later on and said the male nurse apoligized, then i felt bad-he's only doing his job but i couldn't help it,it was just how i felt-surplus to requirements.

He had a few blisters where the dressing was.It was a different type of dressing so he's obviously allergic to it,so they put on ahypo-allergenic one-well,after i mentioned it to the nurses although the Prof said a while before it'd need to be changed-the communication breaks down sometimes.

Anyway,he's getting there-one hurdle at a time!

Remember to pray for Madeleine.Miracles happen and i do feel she's going to be back with her family soon, she just has to be found safe and well.

Nite,Elaine. x

Now You See It,now You Don't!

Evening Folks,(just!11 55)

Well,as a few of you know Sai had his 'bag' reversal today a lot sooner than originally planned.Everything went as well as could be expected and the docs had a good look about while they were in there and everything looks good, which is great news.So the bag is gone (and no,it's not me-ha! ha! very funny Jenny!)..(well,it was actually,i was laghing away at that....).

Rufus Wainwright was just on J Ross there-i've just realised he's gay, yeah?I think if you saw him live it would be way better than tv.....anyway,Sai is not able to eat until next week,so he's going to be mega grumpy (aw,darling:( ) It's so great though, bag gone! (emphasise again, not me!)

The nurses seem to be nicer in the public ward, why is that? Sai said that and i can see it too.ie compared to nurses on the private ward. He's in his own wee room on a public ward but it's def a wee bit scruffier than a private room but if the nurses are nicer that's fine,or is it? I don't want them being too nice now!!

Ethan's class Communion is tomorrow morning so I better get to bed as was very late last night (well,1 30am!) Got the security tag taken off his new jeans in Next that was left on when i bought them Thursday.I'm wondering if they'll be any kids arriving in limos. Some folk can go a bit overboard;well I'm going underboard as don't have anything planned. We'll go somewhere nice for lunch and then go visit Sai,in my bashed car that everyone is looking at as i drive along, 'It wasn'e me!' Also,i keep seeing ambulance's everywhere, really!

Did anyone see Kirsty Young(er) on Have I got News For You tonight.Ok,has she had a few adjustments made? She's my age and looks like i remember she did on STV news 10 years ago!

Ok,going now,nite all. E. x

Early Friday Morning

Hey All,

OMG! Has taken forever to sign in here-gremlins!!! (hope you appreciate it Sai!)

Anyway, you'll all have seen the car-cheers! Sometimes life is just **** ! I'm focusing on a lovely holiday when this journey is all over.

Sai is very anxious about the reversal operation tomorrow.Prof Keane told him it was very 'rare' for this to prolapse.Sai has all his life tried to blend in.He was the only chinese boy in his school-rare------he was 6ft tall-rare-------he's the only chinese/scot in Intel-rare,the blending in thing just isn't happening!!

If it isn't reversed asap then it might not work so that is why it's happening now and not July/Aug as planned.

Ethan's class communion is on Sat,just to add a cherry on top! (We're Church of Scotland but E will get a blessing along with a few other non-Catholics-how do you explain that to an 8yr old.If we were born in Utah we would probably be Mormon!)Anyway, took off to Liffey Valley and kitted Ethan out-well,i'll be back tomorrow as your man in Next didn't remove one of the security tags-----believe it or not happened 2 weeks ago too in Dunnes---do I get the 'Nae Luck Award' or not????You can't get the staff these days!

So,Sai first down for surgery tomorrow. The op will take around an hour and he'll be in for another week.So say a wee prayer the it all goes well.

I don't like the room he's in-it looks a bit tatty but he likes the nurses better on the Crampton Ward and Prof Keane's office is there too. He's meant to be in private but still in public, maybe i'm a bit of a snob.Sai's happy so that's fine.

Better get to bed. Will let you know how Sai goes tomorrow, nite. x
